The Old Summer Palace has recently provided several tour routes using both water and land transport in order to make sightseeing easier.
This November, some electric boats completed their trial runs, before the water had the chance to freeze over.
Since the western scenic zone's trial opening at the end of July, the Old Summer Palace area open to the public has expanded to more than 4,000 mu.
It often takes tourists more than one hour to go deep into the scenic zones. Now, electromobiles carry between 2000 and 3000 tourists per day.
Tourists can travel directly by electromobile to Jiuzhouqingan (Tranquility and Peace of the Chinese Nation) and other scenic zones.
Furthermore, four electric boats have already been put into operation.
Next year, another 20 electric boats will navigate along the banks of Fuhai Lake (Lake of Fortune) and other water routes, going directly to the Jiuzhou scenic zones in the west of the Old Summer Palace.
