NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- New York City gets high marks in a survey of America's favorite cities, local media reported Wednesday.
Travel & Leisure Magazine asked travelers to rate 25 major U.S. cities in 45 different categories, ranging from food and shopping to people, culture, and nightlife, according to a report on www.ny1.com, a local 24-hour news channel on the web.
Visitors ranked New York as the best city in nine of the categories, including theater, luxury and local boutiques, classical music, stylish and diverse residents, people watching, art galleries, and skylines and views.
The city came in second place in five other categories, but came in last place in three categories: affordability, peace and quiet, and relaxing retreat.
Honolulu of Hawaii had the second-most top rankings, finishing first in six categories.
More than 600,000 surveys were submitted, according to the report.
