On September 17, Yanguan Town in Haining County welcomed about 100,000 visitors to view the tidal bore at Qiantang River. According to the local hydrological department, around September 17, the tidal bore would reach between the height of 8.2 to 9.8 feet, the highest level in recent five years.

 

Yanguan Town is the best place to watch the unique 'line tide'. At 13:00 on the day, the tide came. Visitors waiting on the seawall saw a white line roll in torrents from afar, surging up rapidly to the embankment and quickly ebbed accompanied by loud noises.
