Wuling Mountain is the main mountain of Yanshan Mountains, and is called "the First Peak in East Beijing". Now Wuling Mountain is a national nature reserve and a provincial forest park. Xinglong is the biggest base for scientific investigation tours, in which Wuling Mountain with rich tourist resources is the representative. Among them, Wuling Mountain is called by experts "Green Treasure House in North China, even in the Whole Country". Its covering rate of forest reaches 76 percent. Over 1800 kinds of superior plants, above 700 kinds of natural medicine can be found in the forest. Tens of rare flowers are the most valuable ones. Moreover, over 100 kinds of birds and 36 kinds of animals live here, of which 11 kinds under the State protection, including pecuniary leopard, golden vulture, and rhesus monkey. The plants on the mountain takes on a perpendicular distribution under the influence of elevation, from top to bottom in proper order is, the more inferior high grass marshland bush clump, the cloud larch needle forest belt, the pallen leaves forest belt, the pine oak forest belt, the fruit forest belt.
